Origins of Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki was believed to have pre war origins. They were then, eaten as snacks and later on developed into full meals. The contents were believed to be of any thing, thus the mixture of ingredients that we see today. The origins of okonomiyaki were divided into two factions with both Hiroshima and Osaka claiming to be the originator of this popular dish. Okonomi actually means “whatever you like” in Japanese while Yaki means fry or fried.

Watami has two types of okonomiyaki; Hiroshimafu Okonomiyaki and Mochi Cheese Okonomiyaki.
